hispanic heritage month celebration

Hispanic Heritage Month is celebrated across the United States with festivals and community events to recognize Hispanic culture and achievement. This month-long celebration begins on September 15 and lasts until October 15, and is scheduled to coincide with the independence days of several Latin American countries including Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua and more.
Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Greensboro Children’s Museum with art, music, and movement on Sunday, September 22. Special guests including Casa Azul of Greensboro, Ballet Folklorico, and Velmy Trinidad will join us to lead interactive activities throughout the day. See below for a list of programs and activities. Museum hours on Sunday are 1p to 5p. Admission is $5 (plus sales tax, per person). All activities are included with admission. The Greensboro Children’s Museum is located at 220 N Church St. in the cultural district of downtown Greensboro.
Art Studio with Casa Azul of Greensboro
Time: 1:30p – 4:30p
Enjoy a special craft activity with Casa Azul of Greensboro, where you and your child can get hands-on and learn about Latin culture.
Zumba Kids
Time: 1:30p – 2p
Guest instructor Velmy Trinidad will lead a kid-friendly Zumba session for the whole family to enjoy. Zumba is a Latin-inspired dance workout, where kids practice key lifestyle skills such as self-esteem, memory, creativity, coordination and cultural awareness.
Ballet Folklorico de Julio Ruiz
Time: 2:15p – 2:45p
Ballet Folklorico de Julio Ruiz will perform traditional Mexican dances.
