Eight weeks, 125 campers, and a whole lot of play, creation, laughter, and learning later. This summer marks our first camp season after COVID-19 halted the hands-on fun for two years, but we couldn’t be happier to return with a sold-out season!
This year’s camps ranged from learning about mythical creatures to cooking in the kitchen to performing science experiments. We offered five camps for ages 4-6, including Messes & Masterpieces, Superhero Academy, Pirates & Mermaids, Book & Cook, and Bugs, Bees, & Butterflies. We also offered camps for our veteran Museum-goers – ages 6-8 – including Blast Off!, Mad Science, and Artists Assemble.
Campers engaged their creative, imaginative, and curious sides, by delving into STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math) educational activities. All activities and experiments were tangible, take-home items that campers could enjoy after their week was over to remind them of their experience.
Although the campers bring the excitement, the season wouldn’t have been the same without our fun, engaging, patient, and loveable camp counselors! They planned and prepared months out, and even created an example of each piece of art, meal, and experiment prior to the camp week. Phew, they were busy!
“We had a blast and a half this summer, as we re-launched our camp season following a two-year hiatus,” says Siri Johnson, early childhood educator for Greensboro Children’s Museum. “We’re thrilled to have worked with so many gracious families and their incredible campers that practiced positivity and exuded excitement. What a wonderful group to bring us back into the swing of things. We hope to see you again next summer! Until then, stay creative! ”
As Siri said, we appreciate those who joined us this year and are excited to see what the next year has to offer. If you are interested in registering for one or multiple camps for summer 2023, please check our social media pages and website for their availability in the upcoming months.
